Pulpit & Pen Covers Up John MacArthur’s Deception

MacArthur’s Deception

It was recently announced that Grace Community Church, headed by the ever Diotrephetic John MacArthur, was slated to host The Gospel Coalition’s West Coast Conference “Enduring Faithfulness” this October. This posed quite the dilemma for popular polemics blog Pulpit & Pen (hereafter referred to as P&P), as they have been outspoken critics of The Gospel Coalition and its unbilblical nature, but have unwaveringly supported John MacArthur in all of his Pharisaical folly by negligence, disregard, and willful blindness. One erroneous stipulation manufactured by the “Hardy boys” at P&P to justify error, was that MacArthur was not hosting conferences with these people at “his church,” despite the fact that he partnered with them elsewhere. This was the last thread of imagined justification they were clinging to and when news broke that MacArthur was hosting The Gospel Coalition (hereafter referred to as TGC) in his own house, as it were, they were in a bit of a predicament. You see, JD Hall of P&P believes that MacArthur will be taken home in, “a fiery chariot.” (he actually said this). He also believes that MacArthur is “venerable…. great… really awesome,” according to his most recent Polemics Report podcast . Given his infatuation with MacArthur and apparent disdain for The Gospel Coalition, it comes as no surprise that he was faced with quite the dilemma, as rebuking MacArthur is simply not an option for him or his underlings.

JD and his team “sent an email” (Presumably to his friend, Phil Johnson) and voiced their concern on the heels of several articles exposing this dilemma, including one written by this author. In the wake of the “concerned” emails and articles about MacArthur’s Partnerships in hosting what JD calls a “Marxist” organization, Grace Community Church decided against hosting the event at their facility. Phil Johnson made the announcement in an April 5, 2018 tweet.

One lingering question left conspicuously unasked by the boys at P&P is why the conference was sanctioned there in the first place, because this looks rather like a celebrity “I got caught so I’ll go to rehab” episode. These conferences are planned months and usually over a year in advance which means that TGC didn’t presumptuously announce that the conference would be hosted by Grace Community Church, but they must have already agreed upon it. Given this, John MacArthur’s team principally agreed with TGC and only retracted the agreement due to public relations. This is a stunt.
P&P were quick to point out that the leadership at the church had “concerns” from the moment the announcement was made,

Gospel Coalition Pulpit and Pen

Pulpit & Pen Quote

but this makes no sense. It would be so grossly negligent on the part of an internationally known “ministry” hosting a conference to presume a facility would be available on a specific date without ever inquiring as to be utterly unworthy of a second thought. They had planned with the elders of Grace Community Church to host the conference (A conference at which MacArthur is STILL slated to speak) and only changed plans in an attempt to assuage the frustration of some of their benefactors. Thier conclusion (as you can see) is that MacArthur remains “always-admirable” and they are pleased that he will not be taking part in the conference.
They are pleased because they seem to believe TGC is full of Marxist heretics, but as you’ll shortly see, they either don’t know what they believe or
These men are playing a con game; there is no middle ground. There is ZERO integrity behind the “ministries” of TGC, P&P or Grace to You.

So, what are JD’s thoughts on TGC? He said in his April 6th podcast,

They are not a religious organization, they are, in my opinion, a political organization. They are funded by Marxists; they push Marxist ideology, intersectionality, critical race theory, cultural Marxism and economic Marxism and its leader and founder, Tim Keller is a part of that.”

This is a correct assessment, but the duplicity at P&P knows no bounds. They suffer from trickle-down dereliction it seems; the issue beginning with JD.
From Russel Moore to Tim Keller, TGC is fraught with unbiblical wolves…. But let’s take a closer look at exactly who comprises TGC.
This should go without saying, but understand that organizations stand or fall on the substance of those who comprise them. Without people who espouse certain ideas, TGC would simply be an acronym on an otherwise blank website. This is evident. If there were no people there would be no Gospel Coalition. As the Mormon church is the Mormon church because of its members and their beliefs, so The Gospel Coalition is The Gospel Coalition solely because of its members and their beliefs. THEY are The Gospel Coalition. But who are they?

The Gospel Coalition

TGC Council Members

We’ll list the names here so we become familiar with them. Here are some of their “Council”
Ligon Duncan, Thabiti Anyabwile (whom JD calls a racist Marxist), Alistair Begg, H.B. Charles Jr., Mark Dever (partner of Russell Moore), Kevin DeYoung, Tim Keller (the one JD warned about), Albert Mohler (friend of Rick Warren), John Piper (Promoter of Rick Warren, Passion Conference & Carl Lentz), David Platt (Promoter of Francis Chan) & Russell Moore (Whom JD says, “is of the Devil”).

These are core council members of TGC and, therefore, the very heart of all that the Gospel Coalition is and stands for. Given that one of these members is considered to be “of the devil” by JD Hall, I have a question: Is it OK to be in a COALITION or “alliance” with a devil? I’ll defer to 2 Corinthians 6:14, Amos 3:3, and 2 John 1:11. The obvious answer is NO! All of these men endorse each other, obviously, as they are part of a COALITION together. A Marxist organization with devils means everyone who is a part of it is partaking in their sinister ploys. This would explain the concern many people had, including P&P themselves. But as you’re soon going to see, the concern has only just begun.

Please join us for this Dickensian journey of a “Conference Carol.”
Let us go with the Ghost of Conference Past to the 2018 Shepherd’s Conference hosted by John MacArthur himself and Grace Community Church. The conference concluded just one month ago (March 11) and is, perhaps, the “Mecca” of conferences for reformed Calvinists. This year they even gave a fee… I mean… free “Preacher’s Bible” to all who attended… well, “free” if you disregard the $300.00 registration fee. But I digress. You can expect most of the same names from year to year.

Shep Con

Shepherd’s Conference 2018

Do any of these guys look familiar to you? Let’s list them again, just to see if our memories are jogged.
H.B. Charles Jr., Albert Mohler, Ligon Duncan, & Mark Dever.
Do you see what I see? That’s right! FOUR council members of TGC partnered with John MacArthur and spoke at his church a month ago. What about their doctrine or stance has changed in the last month? Answer: NOTHING. These are the same men they have been, promoting the same garbage they have been. It seems Johnny Mac has no problem partnering with The Gospel Coalition whatsoever because, as has been established, the people ARE The Gospel Coalition and he is with those people. John MacArthur’s own partners are members of TGC. Never mind the conference name. We know who these men are; “Marxists.” According to JD Hall, that is.

But let’s continue with the Ghost of Conference Present… (3 days from now, to be exact [4/11/2018]). The “Together for the Gospel” conference, or T4G is hosted by Albert Mohler (TGC member) every year in Louisville, KY. The same people, basically, have been speaking TOGETHER there for the past 12 years, including John MaCarthur.
Let’s see who’s on the roster this year, shall we?

t4g 2018

Together for the Gospel 2018

See any familiar TGC names?
David Platt, Albert Mohler, John Piper, Ligon Duncan, Kevin DeYoung, Mark Dever, & Thabiti Anyabwile
Wow! That’s SEVEN council members from TGC that MacArthur is united TOGETHER with at “Together for the Gospel.” Also, Matt Chandler is a recommended author and partner with TGC (as well as other heretical groups such as the Passion Conference with Louie Giglio the Pope-kisser). CJ Mahaney has been accused of covering up child sex abuse at his church in which he and another pastor told the mother of a 3 year old girl who was molested not to call the cops. The boy accused was convicted, and the civil lawsuit against Mahaney was dismissed on a technicality. Due to the bad publicity still rightly haunting him he has withdrawn from this year’s engagement, but NOT ONE of the men pictured has confronted this issue or held him accountable. Why would they? After all, he co-founded this very conference. The business of business produces all manner of evil; the love of money. Are you beginning to see a disgusting pattern here? John MacAthur is entrenched in intimate partnerships with the very same TGC people he and P&P claim he distances himself from. This is an out and out lie. Phil Johnson is complicit in this lie and has borne overt false witness in the matter. If the men that comprise TGC are so bad and worthy of being separated from, why is MacArthur not cancelling his Together for the Gospel engagement? They are nearly all members of TGC as well. Together for the Gospel is simply an alias for the exact same thing. The same council members comprise it.

But wait, there’s more. The Ghost of Conference Future has a woeful vision for us, indeed. This will take us all the way to September of 2018, to the home of the Grand Ole Opry. That’s right; Nashville, Tennessee. This September, The Getty Music Worship Conference better known as “Sing! 2018” will be hosted by Keith and Kristin Getty. Of course, John MacArthur will be there, but who will be joining him. Let’s take a look.

Ravi zacharias, tim Keller, John Macarthur

MacArthur at Sing! 2018

What do we have here?
Alistair Begg, John Piper, & Tim Keller (The founder of TGC himself). Ligon Duncan (of TGC) will be there as well. Let’s also mention that Ravi Zacharias has no official position on Catholicism and participates in ecumenical conferences such as “Together 2016” in which Pope Francis gave the opening remarks. The “Christian rap” artist Trip Lee pictured with MacArthur regularly tours with Hillsong and Jesus Culture. That’s right, NAR entrenched Jesus Culture and Word Faith Hillsong. Trip Lee is a staple in their “Outcry” Conferences and there’s John without a care in the world.
It seems John MacArthur has such a habit of partnering with TGC that I fail to see how he’s not a member at this point. JD Hall describes Tim Keller as, “of the Devil,” and here, MacArthur partners with him openly. If we are to take P&P seriously in that we should all be aware of TGC and commend MacArthur for withdrawing the facilities, then they need to urge him to remove himself from Together for the Gospel, as well as the “Sing! Conference” and disinvite several people from the Shepherd’s Conference.
Given that the people that comprise TGC ARE TGC, John MacArthur not only hasn’t dissociated himself from TGC but has been and apparently will continue to partner with and endorse them. Phil Johnson of Grace to You, and his team thought they could get one over on us because they retracted the use of their facilities, but let’s get one thing clear: LOCATION IS IRRELEVANT! Is adultery any less adultery if you commit it at a motel instead of your own home? What an idiotic postulation! But some will still make it. Does God dwell in temples built with hands? (Sola Scriptura, please). NO. God is not at all concerned with location but, rather, substance. Locations sanctify NOTHING. The thing that warranted Moses removing his sandals was not some special plot of land with a special bush in a special location, it was the very presence of God Himself that made that ground Holy. A prison was an awful place to be in the 1st Century, but Paul and Silas were in communion with God there and even the other prisoners were compelled to listen to them (Acts 16:25).
The fact is this: John MacArthur is a partner with The Gospel Coalition and all it stands for. The proverbial wool is being pulled over your eyes, here. JD Hall knows this information and has deliberately chosen to neglect it because he is in the business of business and loves to play games in order to raise his own stock. Next to inventing Straw-man arguments, his favorite game to play is called “Partiality in Judgment.”
JD knows that John MacArthur is doing this because he is on tape saying,

I have no problem saying, publicly, I think that John MacArthur’s wrong for going to Together for the Gospel… I have said that privately to Phil [Johnson], but I have no problem saying it publicly.”

He says this on tape (@ the 1:17:24 mark), and yet he continues to act as if it never happened as MacArthur continues to partake in Together for the Gospel and JD remains publicly silent. Not only is John MacArthur playing the hypocrite in this absurd scheme, but so are Phil Johnson (his cover-up and PR guy), Todd Friel (his pseudo-comedic promotion man) and JD Hall the self-defeating, shameless, sycophant who sees himself as something of a sentry. The willingness to cover-up what they know to be egregious error, except when they are forced to because it looks so bad that several monetary contributors finally noticed, is a testament to the the fact that they are destitute of integrity. Rather than telling you the whole truth as was just shared here, P&P wrote this garbage “half truth” as if nobility had prevailed, knowing full well that he was wholeheartedly embracing the same people at other conferences. What a joke!

TGC cancelled

P&P Article

JD followed this article up with a podcast titled, “John MacArthur is STILL the Man.” Behold the fruit of idolatry. While P&P tout themselves as the “Rolex of discernment blogs,” as I’ve said before, this level of negligence ought to be compared to a knock-off Casio from a carnival. I believe we have crossed the line from “negligent” to “fraudulent” at this point. They know exactly what is going on and refuse to accurately and honestly report about it. Hypocrites! The whole lot.

They are willing to carry on the con-game as long as you’ll let them. They will establish confederacies in evil if it means elevating their brand, maintaining the status quo, and garnering followers for their respective “ministries” while maintaining an apparent air of orthodoxy… ah, the modern day Pharisee; filled with hypocrisy and deceit. This self-preserving, self-serving mentality is the antithesis of all things biblical and is emblematic of a complete disregard of Holiness and truth and, therefore, Christ Himself. God help them and all who defend them unabashedly. A more strict judgment awaits those who should have known better. Woe upon woe. God help them.

P.S.
It appears John MacArthur is still slated to speak at the conference despite withdrawing his facilities. But even if he weren’t, MacArthur has been and continues to openly partner with no less than TEN council members from The Gospel Coalition on a regular basis. Wretched Radio, Grace to You and Pulpit & Pen are deceiving the people in order to maintain their sphere of influence as they are dependent upon those who idolize John MacArthur to give them money; they ride his wave. This evidence is overwhelming and undeniable. Anyone who continues to justify this is suffering from a blindness so great that Stevie Wonder would pity them.

still waiting for any of these guys to condemn C J Mahaney’s coverup of child sex crimes by church leadership under his guidance.

    • Servus Chrisit says:

Another critical point. Thanks PJ. I pray you have been encouraged and aided by whatever you have found here. God bless.

Terrific, insightful and well researched. Prepare to be falsely villified as a Pharasaical hater by those who literally are in this category!

  3. Mike Evans says:

    P. S. If they could do what their theological idol, John Calvin, had the power to do, they would burn you at the stake… with green wood. (I believe that admiring a man like Calvin is akin to thinking Jim Jones made a few mistakes but was nonetheless a sound theologian)

  4. Michael says:

You will one day answer for this ridiculous internet slander/gossip. I pray rather that you’d repent.

    • Servus Chrisit says:

Please state what was biblically or factually inaccurate about this UNDENIABLE information. Until or unless you do, calling this “slander/gossip” is, ironically slander/gossip. Please give a biblical or factual critique not an emotional one. Thanks.

      • mIKE Nimer says:

where do these men deny the essential doctrines of the faith? I have listened to them and they are solid on the core teachings of Scripture. You are a self righteous pharisee who is engaging in slander and misrepresentation for which you will be judged.

        • Joshua Chavez says:

If that’s your case, then where do I deny the essential doctrines of the faith? You see, Mike, you can’t even abide by your own standard. You are critiquing me on the basis of actions that you perceive to be wrong, but not because of some false teaching I am propagating. We are doing the same thing only you have unbalanced weights and measures. Do try and cease your hypocrisy. Actions matter in the bible and apparently (and ironically) even to you, Mike.

          • D Case says:

I just happened to be doing a search on the sermon on the mount and saw your link, and for whatever reason, clicked on it. I looked at this article and then the comments. Is that all you got, man? If you represent Christianity with this, I would want nothing to do with it. You’re logic is skewed, making empty attacks, and riling up other men who follow this. I hate this, because you don’t follow the statement Peter commands in 3:15 Be ready to give a defense for the hope that lies within you, YET with gentleness and reverence…I’m just tired of stuff like this – you think you’re doing the “work of God” but have you ever just sat down and talked with these men and have a Godly conversation with them? Or do you hide behind the screen like most people in social media? And then watch, all the people who are going to get riled up in your defense and attack me with their comments following this – What gets me the most is your smug statement above – “Do try and cease your hypocrisy. Actions matter in the Bible and apparently (and ironically) even to you, Mike.” That’s as bad as it gets with someone who appears to be filled with spiritual pride. It’s no wonder some many are walking away from the faith – stuff likes this just adds to the demise, and you think you’re helping the cause of Christ? Oh! but wait, I’m just a judging jerk who doesn’t understand your points, and I’m not “enlightened” just theologically ignorant. Let me tell you something about the N.T. Greek – I’ve checked it out, aced it in Bible school, and David Platt and John MacArthur had a big influence on bringing me to Jesus and confronting my Pharasaism. I’m not even going on record to state they are perfect, and neither am I. But MacArthur and some of these other men have specifically preached and said they know their theology may be flawed somewhere, because they are just men, and they will know more in Heaven. Can you say the same thing about your own theology…..?

  5. Mike Evans says:

It appears that my prophecy was swiftly fulfilled….

    • Servus Christi says:

      Mike,
      It sure was.
I have often said it is the true Pharisees of today; the religious elite and their sycophants, that will call biblical rebuke “Pharisaical”
Like the bully on the playground who intimidates people and the moment someone stands up to him he tells the teacher he was being bullied. Psychological manipulation… indicative of sociopathic behavior or simple liars.

  6. Carson says:

Keep up the good work my brother. I just came back to Jesus after nine years of apostate behavior. I used to idolize MacArthur and Piper, almost went to seminary affiliated with the PCA. It is shocking to see the apostacy of these once sound teachers. Not to mention the PCA taking money from the government to shelter Muslim refugees

    • Servus Christi says:

      Carson,
Praise God for his mercy. Luke 17 is such a great encouragement to the repentant backslider. Continue in Christ, my friend. Continue to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Abide in truth; abide in Christ.
I pray whatever you have found here has been of some encouragement to you. Sit at Jesus feet often and be diligent in searching the word daily. Deception grows more subtle by the day and is on the rise. God bless you.

  7. John says:

Thank you Joshua for doing what’s best, challenging the words spoken by men that error from the truth of the scripture. I found you at a time I’m callenging my own pastors truths. All these high paid so called pastors should stop acting like children calling you names and get out of the big money churches and maybe people will trully be saved then. May God keep on blessing you with good challenging conversation and as for Wreched radios Todd and Phil I now have to be carefull in what they preach. Phil needs to apologise to those who host living room church. Maybe some one ought to give him a history lesson on churches during Christ time here on Earth. Even the elect will be deceived Phil. Big money is going to take you down. Much love and praise to you Joshua keep up the fight. John

    • Servus Christi says:

      John,
Well said. To see people you once respected in a new and glaringly hypocritical light can be disillusioning, however, God has never changed. The Word of God has never changed. Our faith is rooted in Christ despite our surroundings. Recall Jesus’ question to the twelve in John 6:67 … “Do you want to go away also?” because many turned back and did not follow Him anymore. Peter’s response was, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”
So it is today. Jesus still has the words of eternal life and as he later told Peter about John…. “What is it to you if I will that he remain until I come. YOU follow me.”
Thank you for the encouragement. I pray you have been and continue to be blessed by whatever you find here.
      God bless, my friend.

  11. Yvonne says:

Just came across your site, Joshua. Thank you for your honest assessment of the situation. I am saddened by MacArthur’s lack of discernment and willingness to continue to associate with some of these men. I have benefited from MacArthur’s teaching for many years but see that his hypocrisy is blatant. Lord, have mercy!

    • Servus Christi says:

      Yvonne,
It is sad to see the compromise that is permeating Christendom today. I too once benefited from MacArthur and some others who have become loyal to their celebrity status and partnerships rather than Jesus and His Word. I pray you have been and continue to be edified by whatever you find here. God bless.

  12. Yamada Shotaro says:

I’m thankful to God for you Joshua for calling these people out and to go toe to toe with them. Them trying to censor your video falsely by saying it’s violent or inappropriate is sure proof of their own guilt. It’s wicked how Phil said that you’re church is the size of a living room. Shows how they care so much about numbers. Todd on the other hand always talks about being biblical but look what’s on his wrist in wretched tv. A really fancy watch while asking his “gospel partners” for money. I also hate their “Christian liberty” doctrine where practically allows a Christian to smoke a cigar as long as he doesn’t make his brother stumble. Where is this liberty anyways in the Bible? All i see is the more a believer is spirit led the more he makes himself a slave of Christ throwing away all his wants, needs, and privileges. I mean look at paul who stated about his lifestyle where he works even though a preacher may live of his preaching and doesn’t marry even though it is allowed. And all this because he loved God and gave all for the gospel of Christ. These folks on Macarthur’s camp are all just Pharisees who read their bibles but don’t understand it at all whilst using good doctrine of ancient people of the church to look credible. I hope you’re encourage Joshua, take care

  14. Jesse says:

Wow. I cam across this because I was looking for new information on Calvary Chapel Albuquerque. I attended Heitzig’s church from 1992 until 1998. Read a few articles on this site about CC. Most of it is spot on. I can honestly say that Calvary Chapel ruined my life. That particular flavor of Christianity turned me into a creature that was more hate than love. It dragged my parents down and made them into people I cannot recognize now. It was never a good thing. So shallow. All the “Left Behind” craze, prophecy conferences, all the preaching against anyone that doesn’t think like a CC’er. I continued to go to Calvary Chapel churches everywhere my military career took me, married my wife out of a CC.

Three services a week, volunteer ministry, part of Matthew Ellison’s youth group. Here’s what I got: spiritual abuse, living in fear of hell, exclusion from the group for thinking for myself, shamed for my relationship with a girl in the church, indoctrinated against common sense, addictive changes to my personality, and deep seated paranoia.

Here is an exercise for anyone willing to take the time. Go find any internet article about domestic abuse, instead of applying it to a significant other, apply it to your church or relationship with God. This WebMD is a good one. https://blogs.webmd.com/art-of-relationships/2014/11/is-it-abuse-how-to-know.html

Now go pick any checklist for determination on “is it a cult?” http://abuse.wikia.com/wiki/Cult_checklist You might find your church is a cult. CC is VERY close to being a cult. It’s definitely a syncretic doomsday sect and very dangerous. Don’t tell me that they are not VERY controlling, insular, us vs. them, and unwilling to be moderate or see reason. I know, I was there!

  15. Laurie says:

Keller’s TGC ‘s editor is Sam Allberry, who is a ‘homosexual Christian’-.https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/about/staff/.
This same Gospel Coalition has as council members Albert Mohler and Russell Moore, along with co-founder DA Carson.
Allberry can be found at http://www.livingout.org/who-we-are as well, a homosexual site that promotes unrepentant sodomite sin and encourages it, all the while calling such ‘christian’. He glosses over his abomination by calling it ‘same sex attraction’. The bible is clear, And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. Romans 1:27
The bible does not call it a ‘same sex attraction’ it is identified as ‘burned in their lust’. The interlinear states ‘were inflamed in their desire’, inflamed from the Greek ekkaió, meaning ‘to set on fire, to be kindled, to burn’. Desire is from the Greek orexis, meaning ‘eager desire, craving, lust’. The root word is oregomai; meaning ‘excitement of the mind, i.e. Longing after — lust.’
This perversion goes well past being ‘attracted’, it is a deep seeded burning, driving desire for the same sex. It is unnatural lusting after what God has forbidden.
TGC is guilty by association for NOT calling Allberry to repentance. “To be very plain, we are unable to call these things Christian Unions; they begin to look like Confederacies in Evil … It is our solemn conviction that where there can be no real spiritual communion there should be no pretense of fellowship. Fellowship with known and vital error is participation in sin.” — C.H.S., The Sword and the Trowel, November 1887

Any association with TGC by any ‘famous evangelical’ tells us all we need to know, come out from among them and be ye separate.

    • C Matchett says:

I am opposed to TGC as I have witnessed the compromise of many of its leaders and members. I have come to see many of the biblically solid church leaders of the past begin to water down their stances in order to continue to “fit in”. The love of money and fame has led many of them off the narrow path and into the broad way. James MacDonald, whose teaching used to be so solid is a prime example. It seems that there is a large group of big name ministers who endorse each others books and hold conferences together, all while embracing mysticism such as contemplative prayer, lectio divina, and other old age/new age practices. The Passion conferences are a good example. Our worship music is vapid and self-focused. I am sorry to see both Allistair Begg and the Gettys involved with many of these above described groups as I find them to be still very biblically grounded. It is getting to the point that there are fewer and fewer of the solid teachers/preachers to be affiliated with. My husband and I are looking for a new church but are very discouraged as every one we check out is enamored with Hillsong, Bethel music, Elevation music, eth Moore, Priscilla Shirer, Lysa Terkeurst and so many others that are so feeling focused and scripturally unsound. The pastor and elder board at our old church lack discernment and turned deaf ears to our concerns regarding all of this. Having said all of that, I did check out your link to Sam Allberry’s website and read the three men’s stories. All three of them flatly stated that homosexuality was and IS a sin. I don’t think they are endorsing or promoting homosexuality for Christians. I believe it is a very real struggle for Christians with the temptation to that particular sin and those who have it need to be able to acknowledge it as such among fellow Christians while seeking prayer and encouragement to meet it and overcome it rather than stuffing and denying it. God can remove it if they want to give it up. All I can say is “maranatha”… come Lord Jesus. The world is growing darker.

Sweet calls his universalist-tinged doctrine New Light and “quantum spirituality” and “the Christ consciousness” and describes it in terms of “the union of the human with the divine” which is the “center feature of all the world’s religions” (Quantum Spirituality, p. 235). He defines the New Light as “a structure of human becoming, a channeling of Christ energies through mind body experience” (Quantum Spirituality, p. 70).

The Gettys want to ‘bring the world together” through their music. But the frightful thing is that the average Independent Baptist pastor and the people in charge of music in the typical church don’t have the foggiest idea that they are being manipulated and that they are walking on a BRIDGE that leads to a place they say they are against, which is full blown Catholic contemplative mysticism and its enticing philosophy of “don’t be so strict and uptight; relax; enjoy life; live the grace.”

By using this music, a staunch Bible church is brought into association with the contemporary world and the contemporary hymns become a bridge to influences that are contrary to and very dangerous to the church’s original stance.”

Ephesians 5, “Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather reprove them.”

    • Joshua Chavez says:

      Jan,
I mentioned them and MacArthur’s involvement in their conference recently in a couple of different videos already. I will, however, continue to keep an eye on them to see how things progress. They are a veritable wellspring of compromise.

  19. Chris Wright says:

I have listened to, and been blessed by, many TGC speakers for years, the care and reverence they give to the name of Christ and His word is well worth imitating. I would appreciate seeing evidence for “Marxist devil worship” or whatever else they might be accused of.

    • Joshua Chavez says:

      Chris,
Mohler, Platt and Piper all promote Rick Warren and other deceivers. Russell Moore helped build a mosque and is a friend of Beth Moore the heretic Lectio Divina practitioner. This is just a start.

  20. mIKE Nimer says:

What a ridiculous, slanderous, self righteous article this is. You guys are self righteous pharisees who dont distinguish between essential and non essential doctrines. Just because you disagree with someone doesn’t mean they are heretics. These men are not apostate. Sounds like heresy hunters who swallow a camel and strain out a gnat! Sounds like jealousy; your overreaching with no evidence. Everyone is a false prophet except you, correct?

    • Joshua Chavez says:

Mike, you have no biblical or factual objection because there isn’t one. You are simply being emotional.

      • Trevor Adigwe says:

I fully support this ministry keep standing firm Josh. What I want say is What about those of us Christians who go to “Church” in search of true Christian fellowship but instead leave hungry because the membership would rather live a life indistinguishable from the world I pursue righteousness because God allowed me to see the truth of how wicked and opposed to God I am as a human. I wake up desiring sanctification so as not to continue sinning against a HOLY God I don’t go to church to feel better about who I am but exactly the opposite when will peoples eyes be opened to realize Jesus came to divide true Christians from the world not unite them to it Matthew 10: 33-39

  21. Hi Servus Christi,

I note that you mention Alistair Begg on your site.

So, I thought you might be interested in my letter to Alistair Begg. (I tried to be as charitable as I could). btw he is a Council Member of The Gospel Coalition which is riddled with false teachers.

    Comment if you care to.

    Thanks!

    Blessings

    Dear Pastor Begg,

As you would already know, you admirably refute infant baptism and you employ musical instruments in worship in your church. I AM GLAD!!! But what is baffling and confusing to me is that you also glowingly promote and endorse John Calvin. But Calvin burned people at the stake for opposing infant baptism and declared that use of musical instruments in worship is an abomination. Did you know that? This brings me to the following questions:

    1. Why would any kind of Baptist not totally reject John Calvin and have no association with even his name who burned people at the stake for opposing infant baptism? This is what you and I would look like were John Calvin to get his hands on us:

    A779A672-19F8-4C2B-9985-AC93644D25D7.tiff

    2. As you know, The Netherlands is where Reformed Theology TULIP originated then spread throughout Europe, Africa, and America. But of the billions of tulips sold from there every year, wasn’t there at least one wise among them to inform them to inform them that a tulip has only 3 petals and to this day no one has exposed this?

    3. Conrad Mbewe a black leading pastor in Zambia is championing Calvinism taking over Africa. But Calvinism is responsible for Apartheid white supremacy Dutch Reformed Church in Africa and corrupting Curse of Ham racism plague, resulting in the death of 21,000 Blacks that also infected America my country such as Calvinist Presbyterian Pastor Robert Lewis Dabney who stated: “colored men . . . should not be ordained to the full work of the gospel ministry, simply because they belong to the negro race.”…1.5 million died in the Civil War, almost destroyed our country. So what would Dabney say to Moses whose second wife was a Black woman from Ethiopia (Cushite)? Better yet, what would and should have Moses done to Dabney? I can tell you what the Lord did to Miriam, effectively saying them “so you don’t like Black, let see how you like white with Leprosy for judgment seven days!” (Number 12:10) At least Aaron repented, Dabney never did! Had Abraham Kuyper, Dabney and a host of Calvinists done what Philip did by cozying up in the Black Ethiopian’s chariot for his first church service, we might have avoided Hamite theology path of destruction, and The Third Reich Holocaust since Calvin was vehemently antisemitic. Can you explain this? So shouldn’t we be fleeing Calvin, not embracing him?

    4. Calvin banned and condemned the use of musical instruments in worship, calling it an abomination. So why do so many Reformed, and all other Baptist Denominations and so many other denominations, use musical instruments in worship in defiance of John Calvin? This was punishable according to Calvin, so I also wonder what would happen to you and all of the musicians in your church, and me as a guitarist who has ministered in concert in 43 States? (see my website below).
But what does Calvin say about the Psalms?
“Nowhere is the method of praising God delivered more fully; or are we stimulated more powerful to render him this office of godliness…sounds of string instruments…and song in four parts do not in the least suit the majesty of the Church, and only greatly displease God” John Calvin
Another quote from Douglas Bond, citing Calvin:

“John Calvin urged that “all human inventions in worship be removed and driven from us, which God himself justly abominates.” Far from aping the world, Christian men ought to stand against the impulse to reinvent worship so it looks and sounds like the world.”

“Musical instruments in celebrating the praises of God would be no more suitable than the burning of incense, the lighting of lamps and the restoration of other shadows of the Law. The Papists therefore have foolishly borrowed this as well as many other things from the Jews.” John Calvin

    5. I note that you conduct Certified Biblical Counseling at or through your church in which people would pay fees for spiritual/soul counseling both directly as well as through Fieldstone Counseling posted on your church website. But John Calvin said this about Simony:
“I maintain that, in the Papacy in the present day, scarcely one benefice in a hundred is conferred without simony, as the ancients have defined it.” John Calvin (Calv. in Art. 8:21)

    6. Calvin committed the sin of the Leaven of Herod in Ecclesiastical Ordinances and Consistory. He claimed to be against merging church and state, but, de facto, that is precisely what he did. Have you exposed this, or will you?

Will you run these questions by your congregation?

I look forward to your responses!!

    Thank you.

    Kindest regards in Christ,

    James Sundquist
