Is The Altar Call Biblical Evangelism?

If you have spent any amount of time in nearly any church you have likely seen an altar call. You might have “come forward” during an altar call yourself, or perhaps you invite others to do so on a weekly basis. The pervasive mindset in American Christianity is to regard tradition as the standard to the exclusion of Scripture. Error comes by degree and may be well intentioned, but that does not justify the action. The Question is this: Is the altar call a form of biblical evangelism? In this video we seek to answer that question.

Thank you Joshua for these wonderful videos. I will be forwarding them to many others who attend various churches and believe themselves to be ‘Christians’, but who in most cases are not yet born-again. My husband and I have not attended a ‘church’ for some time now, and have, instead, been meeting with other like-minded born again Christians. We just moved to a new senior community and God is leading us to other couples here (divine appointments for sure) and we are just beginning to set up a ‘gathering’ with them so that we ((all born again) can meet regularly and worship together in our homes. People these days are so busy that it’s hard to even find a once-a-week day/time that is open for everyone, but we are trusting that God will make it happen.
We will be showing your videos to this group to encourage them to follow these Biblical directives. You say it SOOOOO well – no way we could improve on it. So thanks again. We have been searching for someone or something like this and God has now answered our prayer. Since most ‘Christians’ attend a church/building/business, they think we are way out in left field with our ideas, but now we have a tool to use that isn’t coming from just us. We will keep you posted as to how this goes . . . just waiting for the winter visitors to return . . . this community is pretty well deserted right now, but a few of us will be gathering to get things rolling. Keep up God’s work! You are so right on ! ! ! God Bless You!

      Midnite Cat,
Thank you for the encouragement. It is such a blessing to know that you have been edified by this content in some form. Praise God. The page has been silent for a few months, but by God’s grace, we are back at it. I am working on a jaw-dropping video highlighting apostasy in the evangelical world at large. Please stay tuned. Seek true believers; relish the fellowship when you find it, and NEVER compromise the truth… buy the truth and sell it not.
      God Bless you!

PS You may be wondering why we don’t just meet on Sundays. We now know that the Biblical Sabbath is SATURDAY, and we are hoping to work out a time on Saturdays, but it conflicts with so many ‘park’ activities and several people’s work schedules. Pray for us that God will open up the doors for us to get this started. We will be praying that many many more people will find your ministry here.

Thank you for your TRUTH!!! Many people say the church is a hospital for sinners. I don’t know what to do because my church has alter calls and speak in tongues without interpreters. Please, what should I do??? Should I leave my church?

    • Roy Elias says:

Ms. Withrow, It’s been some time since you’ve made this post. I am not sure if you are still in struggle with this. I am not speaking for Mr. Chavez.
I can only go with my experience with this false doctrine and with what scripture teaches us. First and foremost, follow the bible. Read it. Know it. It is the living Word. The Bible is clear on the proper use of tongues.! Corinthians Chapter 14. It’s in a orderly fashion and it never is directed to the congregation like prophecy is. It glorifies God..not man. It’s interpretation isn’t in king James speak” Thus saith the lord”. He doesn’t speak to us through tongues. We speak to him in worship. In order, not a bunch of dancing chickens with their heads cut off. Disregard it if it’s not interpreted. Disregard it if the interpretation speaks to the church. We confess that we are a sinner to God, not men.We are not sanctified by men. They cannot justify our separation from God by saying anything in our behalf. Repeating after them, Words; is just a chant. a rosary of sorts. As the thief on the cross knew that Jesus was his only hope. So too we must have that same desperation and faith in the only way to everlasting life. “Today you will be with me in paradise”. The thief didn’t have the opportunity to get baptized. He didn’t have the opportunity to take communion or speak in tongues, the evidence some say as having the Holy Spirit. Anyone who has seen me, has seen the Father. We know him, we have his Words. My sheep know my voice. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. One will not supersede or contradict another. The Word of God, is just that. The Word of God. Trust it. If anyone brings in another gospel..They are cursed. Gal.1;8, don’t associate with them..2 John 1:10. If one chooses to accept this, You have done this on your own accord..2 Cor. 11:4.. Tradition, loyalty to men, comfort zones..Wide is the gate that leads to destruction, Narrow is my Way..Few will find it.

Our Lord Jesus has blessed you Joshua!

The Word of God is our foundation, and you discerningly spoke the truth with compassion.

God has taken me on a walk for years, with the same critically important message.

Such a multitude is bound by enslavement to the traditions of men, yet the Good Shepherd sets free.

It’s amazing, God led us to put together a video, conveying the same message, but with different videography. I have entered the “Website” field for you to find the video (and the essay to which it is integrated). I pray it edifies you, just as the “Is The Altar Call Biblical Evangelism?” work that God led you to has edified me.

What have we received that we have not received? May our gracious and loving Lord Jesus keep us aware of this as we speak this message in love. Let us not speak out of selfish ambition nor for sordid gain, but according to the will of God let us proclaim freely of the Kingdom of God.

    To God be the glory!

Joshua, I was just wondering about Rick joyner (Morningstar ministries) and jeremiah Johnson (heart of the Father ministries). When it’s hard to find their ” true core beliefs” I think maybe they are not biblically sound. Have you come across them? What do you think.

    • Joshua Chavez says:

Absolutely false teachers. Rick Joyner among other things is a member of the Knights of Malta which is subject to the Pope. This is not a conspiracy theory; this is documented. He is also part of the New Apostolic Reformation and was one of the lunatics who “restored” Todd Bentley to “ministry” after he left his disabled wife and married his secretary. Todd Bentley is a demon possessed crazy man who says the Holy Spirit told him to kick an old woman in the face. This is what Rick Joyner is immersed in. Jeremiah Johnson is also a friend and partner of Todd Bentley and the New Apostolic Reformation and people like Lou Engle who urge partnership with Catholicism. Both Joyner and Jeremiah are extremely dangerous men and false teachers. STAY AWAY!
